Meanwhile, this challenge has brought the creativity of many Africans who developed test kits and ventilators for COVID-19 Patients.

Naija News Understands that Senegal has developed one of the world’s most affordable coronavirus testing kits, which costs $1 (N360.50) each, $60 (N2,163) 3D printed ventilators.

This online media platform understands that a Senegalese lab (Institut Pasteur de Dakar) started development very affordable and easy to use Covid-19 testing kit in march which can deliver results in about 10 minutes.

LockDown: President Buhari To Addresses Nigerians By 8pm Today

President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation later today  by 8:00 pm.

The  Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this some feew minutes ago via his twitter handle

President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation Monday, April 27, 2020 at 8pm.“Television, radio and other electronic media stations are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the broadcast,” the tweet read.

Many Nigerians todayare with high expectations on what decision the president will take with regards to the extension or relaxing the total lockdown.

Naija News Understands that the President had on Sunday met with the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire and the Director-General of the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to get an update on the development in the country.

The move by the President is inline with reports that the dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic transmission was spreading in communities despite the measures put in place to contain it.

Updates: Fire Outbreak At NNPC Petrol Station (Pictures&Videos)

More detail has been gathered with respect to the latest fire outbreak at the petrol station in Yaya Abatan area of Ogba of Lagos State.

According to the report gathered, Many people have been trapped at the petrol station and some resident that has been gutted by fire.

Naija News learnt that The outbreak which started around 1pm at College Road, was caused by a petrol tanker allegedly discharging its content.

At the time of this report, firemen from Lagos and Federal Fire services have been deployed to the scene and were combating the inferno.

Confirming the incident, the Director-General (DG) Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu said: “It was observed that a tanker inside the NNPC caught fire which culminated to the spread of the fire to buildings nearby.

Residents around the area also  alleged that the fire outbreak was as a result of the mishandling of facilities at the station by staff.

This online media platform understands that a Senegalese lab (Institut Pasteur de Dakar) started development very affordable and easy to use Covid-19 testing kit in march which can deliver results in about 10 minutes.

The institute was able to achieve this by drawing from a wealth of experience gathered from developing vaccines and treatments for several ailments including yellow fever and dengue.

The updates also confirmed that the testing kit can be used at home for a simple test using the saliva or a blood sample of the individual. Similar to how a pregnancy test kit works, a bloodline appears to indicate the presence or absence of the COVID-19 antibody.

COVID-19: Katsina State Records 9 New Index Cases

Katsina Gov. Aminu Masari has confirmed nine new cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Naija News Understands that Masari made this known while briefing newsmen on Sunday in Katsina.

He said

“We sent samples of 287 suspected persons to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) for screening.From the sample, nine tested positive for COVID-19. Four of the confirmed cases from Daura, four from Katsina and one from in Dutsinma local government areas of the state.

The governor also said that the state has 30 active cases with one death.He disclosed that the patients were on admission at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina.

“We are now waiting for the second screening for seven others to be conducted in the next two days before they are discharged,” he said.

He urged residents to continue to abide by the advice given by health experts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“People should keep social distancing, frequent washing of their hands with soap and running water, using sanitisers, covering their nose and mouth with mask, among others.

“I have also mobilised and directed the law enforcement agencies to enforce the lockdown to stop the spread of the virus in the state,” he said.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained as it was reported that  it has affected some nearby houses.

THE Multinational Joint Task Force has reveal anew plot by the troubled leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau to organize a massive recruitment into the terrorist sect/group from the North East.

This past few weeks has seen the popular terrorist group lose a lot of their fighters. It appears they are interested in strengthening, according to ‘credible information’ obtained by the Task Force.

Shekau plans to launch an aggressive indoctrination and recruitment drive in the coming weeks which is expected to target young and adult males.

The back up plan is to kidnap unwilling targets.” Vanguard quoted Spokesman of MNJTF, Col Timothy Antigha, as saying.

“Consequently, the Task Force urges youths in the North-Eastern states of Nigeria, Lake Province of Chad, Diffa Region of Niger and Extreme North Region of Cameroon, to be vigilant and shun all promises of opportunities for quick money and misguided teachings about jihad.

“The Multinational Joint Task Force also wishes to draw the attention of the public in the affected areas and environs to the sinister plan of Boko Haram / ISWAP and appeals to Imams, community leaders and parents to sensitize their congregations and family members and also watch the activities of their youths and children,” he added.

We Did Not Invade Obaseki’s Ex-Chief Of Staff’s Residence-DSS

The Directorate of State Service (DSS) in Edo has denied invading the residence or arresting anyone associated with Chief Taiwo Akerele, former Chief of Staff (CoS) to Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo.

Naija News Understands Mr. Sheikh Waziri, DSS Director in Edo, told newsmen in Benin on Monday, that no operative of the service invaded the residence of Akerele on Sunday.

There were reports in Benin that the operatives had arrested one Jaspa Olowojoba, Personal Assistant to Akerele, when the operative could not find him.

“I have verified and confirmed that the DSS Edo has not invaded the residence nor arrested anyone associated with the former CoS,” Waziri said.

The former CoS on Saturday resigned his appointment, while Obaseki had replaced him with Mr Osaze Uzamure.

Former Governor of Rivers State and now the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has in a recent interview described President Muhammadu Buhari as someone who does not like to show off, adding also that he is such a shy person.

Speaking in an interview with the Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, the minister revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari led administration has named the yet to be commissioned Itakpe-Warri rail line project after former President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to Amaechi, the outbreak of Coronavirus in Nigeria is the reason why the president has not commissioned the project.

His words, “Now the project is ready for Commissioning but because of Coronavirus, everything is on hold.

“And you know the President is a shy person. He doesn’t like public show.

“What he said is that let’s just focus on our achievements and by the time we leave office people will see what we have done but some of us are insisting that we commission some of our projects. We have decided to name it after former President Goodluck Jonathan.”

Meanwhile,  Lauretta Onochie, a social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari has hinted that the current lockdown put in place by the government of Nigeria may be extended due to the rising cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
