The Emir of Rano, in Kano State, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila II, has passed away.
A report monitored on Vanguard Newspaper by Naija News says the emir passed away on Saturday at a hospital in Kano at the age of 74.
The report said quoted the Turakin Rano and House of Representatives Member of Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure, Alhaji Kabir Alhassan Rururm to have confirmed the death of the Emir.
He said the late emir would be buried this evening in the emirate.
Meanwhile, Naija News understands that the late Emir of Rano was survived by two wives and 17 children.
Earlier today, reports emerged that the emir was hospitalised, at the Amin Kano Teaching Hospital, before been referred to Nasarawa specialist Hospital. The reports did not state whether his illness was COVID-19 related.
Rano Emirate Council is one of the four newly created emirates in Kano state, northern Nigeria.
