COVID-19: Kano Govt Orders Civil Servants To Stay Home

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led government has directed civil servants in Kano State to stay at home pending further directives as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

The Kano State Government on Tuesday also imposed a ban on viewing and event centres across the state following increasing COVID-19 cases.

The Commissioner of Information, Muhammad Garba, released the new directives on Tuesday after the stakeholders meeting which was held on Monday.

He said, “workers on essential services such as the healthcare service providers, fire service, water board, teaching staff, security guards and the media are exempted from the ban.”

The state government on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to work with relevant authorities to curb the spread of the virus in the state.

Garba on Tuesday warned that security operatives would not hesitate to take stern measures to ensure compliance with the directive.

In a related development, the Federal Government of Nigeria on Monday urged Nigerians to take steps to avoid a second nationwide lockdown.

Naija News reports that this was made known by the Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, during a press briefing.
