The former lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye, has reacted to the arrest of #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters.
Naija News reports that popular Instagram Comedian, Mr. Macaroni and several other protesters were arrested by operatives of the Lagos Police Command on Saturday morning at Lekki Toll Gate.
The peaceful protesters were arrested as they embarked on a peaceful protest against the re-opening of the toll gate.
Reacting in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Saturday, Melaye called on the federal government to immediately release all the arrested protesters or be ready to arrest millions of protesters across the country.
The controversial politician added that peaceful protest is one of the inalienable rights we enjoy as enshrined in our constitution, The Africa chatter on People’s right and United Nation.
He wrote: “Federal Government must release Debo Macaroni and others immediately or be ready to arrest millions of us across the country.”
