Barely a week after chairman of the English Premier League club, Arsenal FC, retired from his position with the club, the Emirate board is seeking another able person to chair the vacant position.
However, former club manager, Arsène Charles Ernest Wenger, better known as Arsene Wenger has been recognized as the best person to take over the chairmanship.
Naija News understands that Sir Chips Keswick, the former Arsenal Chairman retired from the position a few days ago after serving in the same position for fifteen years.
While other names may have been suggested, a former player of the club who played as a defender, Martin Keown, has singled out Arsene Wenger as the best choice to consider for the position.
Naija News recalls that Wenger had coached at the Emirate Stadium for over 22 years before his retirement in 2018.
Speaking on the retirement from the chairmanship, Keswick noted that he had long waited to go, but was held back due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus global pandemic.
Keown, however, submits that Wenger suits the position and Arsenal should look no further for any other.
He said, “It would be something special to see Arsene Wenger come onto the board.
“I don’t think so somehow, I think he’s said recently he doesn’t want to do that, never saw himself as someone who would sit on the board but they could do a lot worse.
“You know that I feel that would be almost the perfect answer for Kroenke, the young Josh Kroenke, he needs that older person perhaps around, someone with the experience,” Keown told talkSPORT.”
Meanwhile, Italian sports pundit, Gianluca Di Marzio, has disclosed that English Premier League club, Manchester United have been advised to sign Pietro Pellegri to the club.
