President Muhammadu Buhari has prayed for the quick recovery of King Salman of Saudi Arabia who is currently hospitalized due to illness.
Naija News recalls the 84-year-old king was hospitalized on Monday for an inflammation of the gallbladder.
The kingdom rarely communicates on the state of health of the aging monarch, who has led the country since 2015, the world’s largest exporter of crude oil and the largest Arab economy.
In 2017, Saudi Arabia denied reports in the media that the king was considering abdicating in favor of his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, considered the de facto ruler of the kingdom.
Reacting on Monday evening to the news of the hospitalization of King Salman, Buhari noted that the indisposed ruler is a true friend of Nigeria.
Buhari further described King Salman as one of the finest world leaders and prayed for his quick recovery.
“On behalf of myself, the government and people of Nigeria, I pray for speedy and full recovery of the Saudi King, and Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, one of the finest leaders I have ever met in the course of my interactions with world leaders.”
“King Salman is a true friend of Nigeria who has never failed to identify with us at all times through important collaborations and cooperation. As he receives medical attention, I send my best wishes and prayers for his speedy recovery,” the President said.
