Nigeria Customs Confirms Death Of Former Boss, Abdullahi Dikko

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has confirmed the death of its immediate past Comptroller General, Abdullahi Dikko.

The death was confirmed in a statement on Thursday night by the Customs Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. Joseph Attah.

It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that the former Customs boss who hails from Katsina State, died in Abuja on Thursday at the age of 60 after a protracted sickness.

Dikko was the Customs Comptroller-General between 2009 and 2015.

Prior to his death, he was the subject of investigation for alleged financial mismanagement by both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) – two frontline anti-graft agencies in Nigeria.

However, his ill health made it difficult for him to be tried but his house estimated to be worth about N1.1bn as well as cars worth hundreds of millions of naira were seized by the EFCC under the leadership of former acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

The statement by the PRO on the death said: “The family of the former Comptroller General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Inde just announced his passing away today.

“His funeral prayers (Janaza ) will take place tomorrow, Friday 19th February, 2020 after Jumaat Prayers at National Mosque Abuja.

“He was the Comptroller General of Customs from 2009 to 2015.

“May Allah Forgive his shortcomings and may Aljannatul Firdausi be his final abode.

“May Allah give his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Amin”.
