Femi Adesina, the special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, announced on Monday that there will be no presidential broadcast on Coronavirus from Buhari today.
According to the media aide, no broadcast was planned or scheduled for today in the first place.
This online news platform recalls that the National Coordinator of the presidential task force on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani, had said during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics that President Buhari would address Nigerians in a national broadcast over the coronavirus pandemic today.
However, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, denied Sani’s claim, saying no presidential broadcast was planned today and that whatever update was available would be passed on by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) during its usual briefings.
No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps.

Following the update by Adesina, Nigerians have taken to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to express their feelings over the news that President Buhari won’t be making any address. See some of their reactions:

No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned – Femi Adesina.
Buhari’s cut-and -sow playback needs to be perfected. What a shameful administration. They can deny even their own existence.

Dear President Buhari,
We your “Fellow Nigerians” are begging you, when you come out to read your newspaper this evening, please just go straight to the point. We can’t be watching your speech like Champions League final pic.twitter.com/2sWmc9KVmt

Femi Adesina’s job is the hardest in this country.
Truth is, he is just doing his job. Defending a President is hard enough. I used to always pity Sarah Huckabee each time she had to defend Trump.
Defending a Buhari is beyond anybody but you have to earn your pay.

Femi adesina can’t stand shame any more but avoid pre-recorded broadcast tonight…. Chai

Baba Buhari is not available for recording or what?
Was he not able to study his speech very well or the recorded video got lost?
Ohh Could it be that someone mistakenly deleted the recorded video. Or Femi Adesina forgot to record it at all.

Why are you hiding our president like raw diamond? This is annoying.
Maybe we just sell this country and share the money. Make everybody find there way. Make all of us go rest including Buhari.
Uncle Femi Adesina reason ham. https://t.co/E8Dq7OPyXL

Femi Adesina tweets with so much arrogance ! Like he’s doing us a favour for doing his job

What exactly is happening with this present administration under Buhari? This minute “we will do this”, the next minute one Femi Adesina from the same government will say it will not be done. Can we at least get oneness from these guys if they won’t give good leadership

Meanwhile, President Buhari has extended the first phase of the gradual relaxation of the coronavirus lockdown by another two weeks, noting that Nigeria is not ripe for total relaxation of lockdown yet.
