‘Our Party Is Collapsing With No Leader In Charge’ – APC Govs Forum DG

APC Chairman Oshiomhole Explodes As Supreme Court Sacks Bayelsa Governor-Elect, David Lyon

The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governor’s Forum, Salihu Lukman, has expressed his concerns over the leadership of the party at the National level.

Lukman, while reacting to recent development in the party noted that some members of the NWC who he alleged are responsible for challenges in the APC camp would be replaced with immediate effect.

appeal court’s ruling which upholds the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the camp of the ruling party is ‘gradually subsiding’.

Naija News recalls that an appeal court ruling on Tuesday upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the APC, while former Oyo State Governor who is currently sick, Abiola Ajimobi, was declared as the acting chairman.

However, Lukman on Thursday calls for an emergency National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting in respect to the party’s leadership.

He said, “the party needs an ‘organ transplant’ by replacing members of the NWC who constitute a problem to the party.”

“It is very clear we need an organ transplant by way of replacing the members of the current NWC who constitute the problem. That the All Progressives Congress (APC) is having a leadership crisis is no longer news,” Lukman added.

“What is news now is that the party is collapsing with no leader in charge. Following the appeal court ruling sustaining the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the party, late on Monday, June 16, 2020, members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party started making disparate claims as to who is the acting national chairman.”

“It is as if the party doesn’t have a constitution or those who operate the constitution are either ignorant of its provisions or have decided to set aside the constitution and just embark on a free for all fight. Yet, APC is the ruling party in Nigeria.”

According to him, it is unheard that APC has the likes of President Muhammadu Buhari and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, and yet battle in such manner.

“How can a party so blessed with experienced and very skilful leaders such as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, Chief Tony Momoh, etc. be incapable of resolving the problem of leadership vacancy,” the DG reiterated.

“The combined moral authority of President Buhari and Asiwaju Tinubu should have involuntarily moderated the conduct of other leaders of the party, especially members of the NWC. Does the current APC leadership crisis, therefore, suggest declining moral authority of our two leaders? It is very easy to reach conclusions.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado Ekiti Local Government, Michael Akinleye has disagreed with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) over its choice of Senator Abiola Ajimobi as the party’s acting National Chairman.
