COVID-19: Abdulrazaq Vows To Punish Travel Ban Violators

The recent increasing rate of COVID-19 pandemic in Kwara state has been reportedly linked to the violation of the travel ban order by Governor Abdulrazaq.

The flagrant disobedience by some travelers has made the state to threaten stricter measures on the citizens, visitors, and indigenes of the state.

Speaking in  Ilorinwith the leadership of the Hausa community, Deputy Governor and Chairman of COVID-19 Technical Committee, Mr Kayode Alabi, has vowed to punish all travel ban violators as most of the COVID-19 index cases in the state were non-residents intercepted by security personnel.

He urged the executive members of the community to inform their people to stay anywhere they are until the end of the pandemic.

The deputy governor noted that “the virus does not show on faces and the moment a carrier mingles with others, it increases community spreading”.

However , Naija News recalls that ten new cases of COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed in ilorin yesterday.

This development brings the total of confirmed cases in the state to 44, including nine discharged patients as well as one death.

P&ID: U.S Judge Approves Buhari’s Request To Access Bank Records Of Jonathan, Diezani others

President Muhammadu Buhari has gotten major breakthrough in its efforts to overturn the controversial $9.6 billion P&ID fine.

Naija news Understands that the breakthrough came as A United States Federal High court granted Nigeria permission to investigate bank transactions involving former President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife Patience, former Petroleum Resources Minister Diezani Allison-Madueke and other top government officials.

According to a May 8 report in legal website law360.com, District Judge Lorna Schofield, who gave the ruling, ordered the banks to allow the Nigerian government have access to sundry account details of officials listed in its subpoena request.

The move, the judge ruled, would enable the Nigerian government prove its claim that the $9.6 billion arbitration was obtained by Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) by fraud.

These political office holders were in leaders of the country when the government allegedly signed a contract with a company, Process and Industrial Development Limited, which has become a source of dispute.

Kwara State Confirms 10 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The number of people with confirmed coronavirus infection in Kwara State has increased by 10.

This development brings the total of confirmed cases in the state to 44, including nine discharged patients as well as one death.

This was disclosed by Mr. Fafoluyi Olayinka, the Special Assistant on New Media to the state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday reported 146 confirmed new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

The new figure brings total cases of the deadly virus in Nigeria to 4787, including 959 discharged persons and 158 deaths.

Photos: Remember Korede, The Malnourished 9-Year Old? You’lld Be Amazed At What He Looks Like Now

Recent photos of Korede Taiwo, a 9-year-old boy
who was chained for a month and allowed to starve by his stepmother and father, has surfaced the internet.

Recall that Korede was rescued and adopted by Mrs Funsho Amosun.

His father, who claims to be a pastor had said the child needed deliverance because he normally stole Eba and soup.

A a tip-off from church members, which prompted NSCDC’s rescue operation on July 22, 2016 led to the rescue of Korede.

As at the time of rescue, he was not only frail, he was malnourished and smaller than a child of his age.

Magically, Nigeria on Tuesday, May 12 recorded seemingly low cases of Coronavirus in the country.

The newly reported cases of COVID-19 on the official Twitter account and website of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has it that total cases recorded on Tuesday were 146.

Nigerians React As COVID-19 Cases Drops Drastically

Naija News reported earlier that COVID-19 death toll rises to 158 as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Tuesday night confirmed 146 new cases of Coronavirus in the country.

The new figure obviously was almost equal to the slash of the previous cases reported.

However, Nigeria as at Tuesday, May 12 has a total of 4787 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

22 COVID-19 Patients Allowed To Go Home In Sokoto

COVID-19: Coronavirus News Update For Tuesday, May 12, 2020

22 out of the 75 active cases of COVID-19 at the state’s isolation centres in Amanawa, Sokoto state have been discharged after testing negative for the virus.

This was announced by Ali Inname, chairman of the Sokoto task force committee on COVID-19 and commissioner for health, while briefing reporters on the COVID-19 situation in the state.

He described the number of recoveries as the “highest so far achieved by the state.”

He said that so far, 106 persons have tested positive to the virus in the state, out of which, 12 have died.

However, out of the 75 active cases, today, we have successfully discharged 22 persons who dually tested negative for COVID-19, making a total of 41 patients discharged out of the 106 confirmed cases in the state,” he said.

“More so, the number of deaths has just increased by one today according to our update, leaving a total number of 52 active COVID-19 patients in the state.”

Inname said the state had traced 874 contacts, out of which 431 persons had been tested for the virus.

Two Zamfara State Permanent Secretaries Dies Of Undisclosed Illness

According to a report monitored by this online news platform on Daily Trust, two permanent secretaries in Zamfara state civil service has died of an undisclosed illness.

The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, was said to have commended the service of the two deceased whom he has described as committed and hardworking fellows who have served the state in their best capacity.

The governor also prayed that Almighty Allah grants the duo a place in paradise and as well prayed that the family be comforted.

However, the remains of the two late permanent secretaries; Yawale Dango of the Office of the Head of Service and Ahmed Sale of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development have been buried according to Islamic rites, Naija News learnt.

This is coming a week after Naija News reported the death of Alhaji Mohammed Asha, Emir of Kaura-Namoda in Zamfara State.

It was reported that the traditional ruler had died after three days in isolation at the Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, as a result of complications from the COVID-19 infection.
