The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has again warned desperate applicants against submitting their data on fake recruitment websites created by scammers.
Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, June 30, the Comptroller General of the NIS, Muhammad Babandede, urged citizens from falling prey of cyber scams, noting that the agency collects no dime for recruitment into the NIS.
The NIS boss in the statement issued on his behalf by the Service Public Relations Officer, SPEO, Sunday James alerted Nigerian youths that these fake websites are only out there to defraud them of their hard-earned money.
He said, “These are fraudsters with the intention of defrauding innocent and unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard-earned money.”
“The Service had warned severally and is still warning the public to avoid such fake recruitment offer which is not officially posted on the official NIS website.”
Babandede added, “no fee whatsoever is charged for NIS recruitment.”
He noted that every information as regards the recruitment would be made available on its official website, also warned the general public to disregard a scam report posted recently to avoid falling victims to the criminal elements.
Naija News understands that NIS recruitment exercise which was earlier announced on 13th March 2020 has now closed, and hence the agency warned citizens against been deceived by scammers who may have assured them of getting into the service.
Meanwhile, Naija News had reported that more than one million Nigerians have applied to become a part of the N-Power Batch C beneficiaries since the recruitment portal opened on Friday.
