1. Buhari Extends Phase 2 Of Eased Lockdown, Lifts Interstate Movement Ban

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday extended phase two of eased lockdown by another four weeks with effect from tomorrow Tuesday, June 30 through midnight of Monday, July 27, 2020.

This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and chairman Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, during the daily media briefing.

2. Giadom Hands Over To APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Buni

The Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Victor Giadom, has handed over to the caretaker committee of the party.

Giadom on Monday handed over to the Chairman of the party’s Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni.

3. Buhari Okays ‘Safe Reopening’ of Schools Nationwide

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday approved the “safe reopening” of schools nationwide for graduating pupils and students.

Naija News reports that this reopening would mark the next phase of the gradual easing of lockdown ordered to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

4. Edo 2020: Court Nullifies Certificate Forgery Suit Against Obaseki

Justice Anwuli Chiekere of the Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified a suit filed accusing the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki of forging his degree Certificates.

Naija News learnt that the suit was terminated after the plaintiffs failed to appear in court when the suit was called up for mention.

5. 2023: AYCF Leader, Yerima Discloses Who Should Become Nigeria’s Next President

Leader of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Alhaji Shettima Yerima has declared that those crediting a statement to him on claims that he doesn’t support Igbo presidency in 2023 are out to blackmail him.

There were reports on some online portals and the social media in particular that Yerima had said Igbo people and the entire Southeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria will never produce a president.

6. IGP Orders Ondo Police Commissioner To Restore Deputy Governor’s Police Escorts

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has reportedly ordered the restoration of the security details of Agboola Ajayi, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.

It will be recalled as previously reported by Naija News that the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi had raised an alarm over the withdrawal of his police escorts which he said has put his life, family, and staff in danger.

7. Reopening Of Schools: ASUU Condemns Moves, Said It’s Suicidal

The national president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, has condemned moves by Federal Government of Nigeria to reopen institutions while the country is still battling the global pandemic.

The leader of the university association, while speaking with newsmen on the early hour of Monday, June 29 in Ogun State, kicked against the reopening of schools at this moment, noting that the move is ‘suicidal’.

8. US Slams Fresh $6m Fraud Charge Against 11 Nigerians

Eleven Nigerians have been arraigned in the United States for their alleged roles in a conspiracy to commit bank fraud in Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania.

They were arraigned on multiple counts such as fraud, forgery, amongst others.

9. Qasem Soleimani: Iran Issues Arrest Warrant Against US President, Donald Trump

The government of Iran has issued a warrant of arrest against President Donald Trump of America and others whom it accused of complexity in the killing of its former military commander, Qasem Soleimani.

The warrant, issued on Monday through Tehran prosecutor, Ali Alqasimehr said Trump and about 30 others are guilty of killing General Soleimani.

10. BB Naija: Big Brother Naija Season 5 Gets Start Date

The fifth edition of the popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija is set to debut on the screens as from July 19, 2020.
