Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has revealed in a statement on Friday, May 22 that fifty per cent of COVID-19 related deaths were confirmed in their homes.
According to the minister, patients who lost their lives to the Coronavirus virus pandemic in their apartments.
Ehanire further revealed in a statement which was signed by the Ministry’s Director of Information, Media and Public Relations, Eunice Akro, that the remaining fifty per cent patients lost to the viral disease did not show any symptoms.
He said, “Findings from the analysis of the deaths show that nearly half of them died at home. Of those who died at home, about 50 per cent did not show any symptoms.”
Ehanire added, “This underscores my earlier emphasis on the need for those who test positive to report for treatment.”
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Thursday night confirmed two hundred and forty-five new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
The agency in a post on their official Twitter account confirmed the new cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 7261.
