The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has hinted on the resumption date for international flights which were banned due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.
Governor Wike in his statement promised that he will complete all ongoing projects in the state and hinted that the ban on international flights could be lifted in the next few weeks.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari government placed a ban on international flights, following the outbreak of COVID-19 across the country.
Wike, while speaking during the inspection of a hospital project in Port Harcourt, noted that some projects in his state were affected due to the ban on international flights.
He further stated that the furniture and medical equipment for the hospital would be installed once the federal government lifts the ban on international flights.
The Rivers State governor added that the installation of equipment was due to the inability of German partners to travel, following the ban on international flights.
He said: “But you can see that everything is set. We believe that in the next few weeks when the federal government lifts the ban on international flights, they will come in and start fixing the furniture and other medical equipment.”
“The equipment will be of world standard and we are happy with what we are doing for the people. That is what I have always said that our people deserve the best they can get. I’m happy with the level of work we have seen today.”
“All of them are ongoing, look at the quality of work done. Look at the people, how they are highly elated. That is what they want and we give them things that will improve their life.”
